Safeguarding

At Bignold Primary School, Nursery & Preschool, we take the safeguarding of our children very seriously and it is seen as everyone's responsibility within our school community. We are still supporting the Norfolk County Council 'See Something, Hear Something, Say Something' campaign. This focuses on keeping children safe during these continued unusual times, as many families may well be facing additional pressures.

What to do if you are worried about a child

Please look at the poster below for advice on what to do if you are concerned about the welfare of a child. We know that people can be uncomfortable with the idea of reporting concerns (especially if we are worried about the child of a neighbour, a friend or a family member) but we would always advise people to share information - it may be the one crucial small piece of information that sheds light on a much larger problem.

To report a concern you can phone school on 01603 625721 and ask to speak to a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or if you are reporting a concern outside of normal school working hours you can call the Children's Advice and Duty Services (CADS) on 0344 800 8020. We respect the right of any concern raised to remain anonymous.

Alternatively, you can report your concerns directly to Norfolk Children's Safeguarding Partnership by calling the Children's Advice Duty Service (CADS) on 0344 800 8020.

Safeguarding Children and Young People from Harm or Neglect

Everyone at Bignold Primary School, Nursey & Pre-school is fully committed to safeguarding children and young people and to protecting them from harm or neglect. We take this duty very seriously.

All staff and volunteers must have an enhanced criminal conviction (DBS) check and the school maintains comprehensive records of these checks. OFSTED also examines these records to ensure that the school is complying with regulations.

All staff in school receive annual statutory training on child protection.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) at Bignold

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Emma Davies, (SENCo and Assistant Head Teacher)

Alternate DSLs are Matt Wigg (Head Teacher), Laura Stevens (Pastoral Assistant and Family Support), Emma Barber (Assistant Head Teacher), Izzy Graham (Office Manager) and Vicki Gale & Donna Wyatt (DSLs for Busy Bees, our before and after school provision).

In our Early Years provision of Pre-School and Nursery, we currently have two members of staff with the Early Years Safeguarding Qualification (NSCB Safer Program), Julie Carey and Lisa Tooley.

Visitors arriving in school will be given safeguarding information with the names of DSLs available on the lanyards.

There are posters around the school with the names and contact details of our DSLs. The number for the LADO (Local Authority Designated Officer) is also printed on these posters. Please ask the office staff if you need to locate one of these posters or would like to speak to a DSL.
