Author Fest

We love reading at Bignold and our aim is to develop children's love of reading and their knoweldge about authors and books.  We worked with Magdalen Gates school and secured funding so that we could aim high (with our author choices) and create a wonderful week for the children of both schools. During our Author Fest week every class had the opportunity to listen to an author - they could ask questions and listen to what inspired the authors.  We also all visited the Plantation Garden to share or read a book. The children in Reception had a firepit story session, which was super exciting.  Miss Cornish also took a group of children from each class to Dragon Tales and Book Bugs bookshop in the city to choose a book for themselves and a book for the library.  These books have been labelled Children's Choice.
