IMPORTANT - Lateral testing for Primary School staff
Dear parents & carers,
You may have heard from the media that Primary School and Nursery staff are to have regular lateral flow device testing for COVID-19 starting from week commencing 25th January 2021.
The NHS and DfE have supplied schools with lateral flow devices for self-testing. This is to support the identification of asymptomatic positive cases. The tests give a rapid result to aid early self-isolation.
The guidance advises staff members to self-test twice a week and if the test produces a positive result, then a further PCR test at a test centre is required to confirm it.
Unfortunately, this is likely to result in short notice staff shortages which will inevitably lead to bubble closures as we cannot mix staff across bubbles to cover. Some bubble closures may only be temporary (up to one or two days) whilst staff wait for a test centre result. If this is negative then the bubble would be reopened swiftly.
The short time frames within this testing process mean that we may not have much time to communicate with you. It is important that you check your emails for Parent Mails and your phones for text messages from Bignold as these are the ways we would inform you of a bubble group closure.
Staff will be carrying out self-testing on Sunday and Wednesday afternoons and, in the event of a positive test, we will contact you as soon as possible.
We will carry out our first round of lateral tests on Wednesday 27th January.
To support us with this, please ensure the contact details that the school hold for you are up to date. If you need to update your details you can do this by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or telephoning 01603 625721
With thanks for your continuing support,
Head of School
