Home learning - we understand that it is not always easy

Dear parents and carers,

We are now at the end of our second week of home learning & I wanted to say how impressed I am with the work being posted on Tapestry and Seesaw. Well done to all of the children (and of course their families) – you should feel very proud!

Thank you to all of you who have given us feedback; it is really brilliant to have such a supportive group of families during this incredibly difficult time. I understand that the amount of work available for the children can look a little overwhelming so we have taken a look at our online learning offer and will be making a few tweaks which will hopefully help. I have also done a short video with some tips on which work to really focus on if you are struggling to get everything done:

From next week, you can expect to see the following changes:

  • Writing – this will only be posted on Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays
  • Reading – this will only be posted on Thursdays & Fridays
  • Curriculum – there will now only be 3 curriculum sessions posted each week
  • PE/fitness – there will be 1 PE/fitness activity posted each week.

*There will also be one other activity posted each week – this will often be PSHE based

From Monday, our 1:1 and small group learning support phone calls and Zoom calls will be rolled out with each child receiving at least one session every 2 weeks with a member of our team.

We do expect that all children are keeping on top of their home learning & posting work every day - please see my video for some tips on areas for you to prioritise. School staff will contact you regularly to offer support if your child is not able to complete tasks for whatever reason.

We are here for you & want to do everything we can to offer support at this time.

With my best wishes,

Chris Newman
