Facemasks for adults coming on to the school site - a message from Binks Neate-Evans

Dear Families,

From tomorrow morning, Tuesday 20th October, parents and carers are required to wear masks when coming to the school site. This is to help us to 'do our bit' to keep our communities safe, to protect each other and the staff in school.

You will be very aware of the increase in cases locally and nationally. We also have a confirmed case at Angel Road Infants so I do not feel able to put off this decision any longer. This decision is delegated to schools from central government and is therefore enforceable. We recognise some people may sometimes forget. Of course, we will not refuse entry for one-offs but ask that we encourage each other to get into this new habit on the school site. We will also place signs on the gate as reminders but these may not be in place by tomorrow morning. I hope you see this as a reasonable and proportionate step.

The government guidance states that some people may be less able to wear a mask than others as stated below:

  • people who cannot put on, wear or remove a face covering because of a physical or mental illness or impairment, or disability
  • where putting on, wearing or removing a face covering will cause you severe distress
  • if you are speaking to or providing assistance to someone who relies on lip reading, clear sound or facial expressions to communicate
  • to avoid harm or injury, or the risk of harm or injury, to yourself or others

Please inform a member of staff if you are unable to wear a mask. Please be aware that different members of staff are on duty outside and may not always be aware of this.

Children are not required to wear masks.

Thank you so much for the brilliant support you have shown our schools during these incredibly challenging times.

Regards

Binks Neate-Evans
